The Cambridge story began back in 1534 when Henry VIII granted them Letters Patent, (a ‘Royal Charter’), allowing Cambridge University Press to print “all manner of books”. They published their first book, Two Treatises of the Lord His Holie Supper, in 1584, making them the oldest publishing house in the world. Their first Bible, printed in 1591, was an edition of the Geneva Bible, the translation first brought to America by the Pilgrims. In 1629, Cambridge printed their first King James Bible, a folio edition, by Thomas and John Buck. (The E:66 Bible Exhibit contains numerous rare and historically important printings from Cambridge!)

But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
